A second call for Integration Projects is now closed.
The results of the second call are available for download here
Description of the call
EUR-OCEANS opens a second call for “Integration Projects” *. The projects should be focussed on one or several of the following activities:
- Writing of a review or synthesis papers on EUR-OCEANS scientific disciplines. EUR-OCEANS funds will cover travel expenses and per diems for writing meetings, as well as salaries of recruited personnel where needed. Proposals are expected to be in the range of 10 to 20 kEuros.
- Integration activities relevant to the EUR-OCEANS WP1 to WP3**. EUR-OCEANS funds will cover travel expenses, per diems, small equipment or consumables costs, as well as salaries of recruited personnel where needed. Proposals are expected to be in the range of 10 to 20 kEuros.
The IP must be proposed by at least two EUR-OCEANS scientists (PIs, or associated scientists) belonging to at least two different Member Organisations. Non-EUR-OCEANS researchers can be associated to a project, providing this does not hamper the acknowledgement of the final product as an outcome of EUR-OCEANS.
The total budget allocated to these projects for 2008 is 100 kEuros.
Proposers should keep in mind that the official end date of the EUR-OCEANS NoE is 31 December 2008. The timeline of each proposal should therefore be planned in a way that the outputs of the project are delivered before that date.
How to submit a proposal
Proposals must be submitted to the EUR-OCEANS office by 15 October 2007. The proposals can be submitted in a free format, but they should include the following minimum required information:
- Name and member organisation of main proposer
- Name and member organisation of co-proposer(s)
- Title of the project
- Duration and approximate start date
- Amount of funds required
- Relevance to EUR-OCEANS WP(s) and/or System(s)
- Integration value of the project
- Names of at least three potential reviewers external to the EUR-OCEANS NoE
The proposals should be sent to Ionela.Daha@univ-brest.fr.
The proposals will be reviewed by external experts, and the decisions made by the Executive Committee by 30 November.
* One of the major aims of EUR-OCEANS is to achieve lasting integration of European research organisations on global change and pelagic marine ecosystems and the relevant scientific disciplines (pelagic ecosystems, biogeochemistry, and ecosystem approach to marine resources).
** WP1.1: Sharing facilities; WP1.2: Mobility and communication; WP2.1: Observing Systems; WP2.2: Networked databases; WP3.1: Model interfacing; WP3.2: Global Ocean; WP3.3: Earth System
It is suggested that proposers contact the concerned WP leader(s) to check the relevance of their proposal before submitting it.
