The Work Package 6 of the FP7 Euromarine Coordination Action conducts an inventory of marine education and training possibilities across Europe. The inventory spans the three former marine science NoEs EUR-OCEANS, MarBEF, Marine Genomics Europe.
Explanations and the link to the online questionnaire are provided in the message reproduced below:
EuroMarine is an FP7 project which was launched a few months ago and which aims to make an integrated structure built upon the three former Ocean-related FP6 Networks of Excellence MarBEF, EurOceans, and Marine Genomics Europe. One of the objectives of the EuroMarine project was defined as : “Train the next generation of marine scientists. Establish the educational landscape of marine biological sciences in the context of the “new 21st century” marine scientist in a cross-disciplinary perspective”. During the EuroMarine Kick-off meeting in March in Gothenburg it was decided that within work package 6 an inventory of Marine Training possibilities will be set up. The Marine Biology Research group of Ghent University will take the lead in the establishment of this inventory.
The aim of this task is to make a listing of all training possibilities in the different partners of the three former NoE’s and make it accessible through an online portal. This listing could in the future serve as the starting point for trainees to get access to information about marine education. With this initiative we target a whole range of training formats: Master programmes, Doctoral schools, Summerschools, hands-on training possibilities at a research institute, digital online courses, ... The targeted audience is broad: bachelor students, master students, doctoral researchers, technical staff members, post-doc researchers.
For the coming weeks we have hired a student who will collect and input information about these trainings in a database. Once this database is getting to a certain level of completion it will become accessible through the EuroMarine website. Guidelines on the use of this repository will be posted to the EuroMarine website as well.
Hereby we want to invite you to send us information about training possibilities in Marine Sciences at your institute. This can be done in two ways:
1. By filling in the form which can be accessed using this URL :https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dDRRalcyOXZyUFlIT0NjbUtiT2RkMEE6MA#gid=0
In case certain information is not available indicate this by filling in NA. Note that all input will be reviewed before it is being posted on the website.
2. Or by sending information about trainings to: firstname.lastname@example.org
We really hope through this initiative to make a valuable tool facilitating easy access to information about marine education.
Thanks in advance for your collaboration!
Please forward this message to as many as possible colleagues from the network!
