"microzooplankton budget module (PFT)" from PlankTOM5 Equations
Same equation in other models :
Equation Description :
Microzooplankton in PlankTOM5 is modelled as biomass only (compared to biomass, iron, chlorophyll and silicium content for phytoplankton functional types). The production of microzooplankton in the model is defined by the grazing on phytoplankton and POCs, the basal respiration rate and the loss terms mortality and grazing by mesozooplankton.
sigma mic = 0.7 (partitioning of food respiration to inorganic nutrients)
r mic = 0.07 d-1 (basal respiration rate)
i = 1.066 (temperature dependence of basal respiration)
m mic = 0.1 d-1 (microzooplankton mortality rate)
h = 1.066 (temperature dependence of mortality)
e mic = 0.3 (growth efficiency, Straile et al., 1997)
G mic = 4 d-1 (maximum grazing rate at 0 deg C)
f = 1.066 (temperature dependence of grazing)
K 1/2 mic = 18 uM (half saturation constant of grazing)
p dia mic = 0.4 (preference for diatoms)
p coc mic = 0.8 (preference for coccolithophorids)
p nan mic = 1.2 (preference for nanophytoplankton)
p soc mic = 0.13(preference for small POC)
f s mic = 0.3 (unassimilated food, fecal pellets)
