Equation Description :
Atmospheric deposition of Si is considered following Moore et al.(2002). Riverine Si is computed by the Global Erosion Model (GEM) of Ludwig et al. (1996) considering constant Fe/P/N/Si/C ratios for rivers (Meybeck 1993; Treguer et al., 1995; de Baar & de Jong, 2001).
Sediment pore water iron is not represented as a source as almost no quantitative information is available for parameterization. The max flux of iron from the sediments is set at 1 micro mol Fe/m2/d from anoxic sediments.

delta D = 0.05 (exudation by diatoms, no units);
lambda*BSi = in situ biogenic silica dissolution rate (link below to full equation);
mu D = production by diatoms;
D = concentration of diatoms in micro mol C l-1;
