MOdel Shopping Tool ( MOST )
About MOST
Philosophy, How, Prospects
The Model Shopping Tool (MoST) is an online catalog of pelagic ecosystem models-in-use including detailed descriptions on approach and model phylosophy, a searchabel databank of the model equations per biogeochemical or food web process, and where possible parameter values and sources. The tool is developed within EUROCEANS' WorkPackage 3.1 Model Interfacing.
Using the filter below, MoST allows you to:- get factsheets on developed models
- list different models with the same module
- seach for equations per biogeochemical/biological process
- compare equations across models
- search for vital rates
About the Model Shopping Tool
As a first step to aid cooperation between ecosystem model developers and to promote european model interfacing, the NoE was surveyed using a ‘who’s developing what’ approach. This tool presents the WP3.1 Model Interfacing database in that format, focusing on developers expertise and simulations rather than model descriptions only.
For that reason a model may appear described several times but reflecting the developers own expertise and purpose for development.
Your Profile is MISSING ?
To ensure accuracy and representation of individual expertise and interests, the majority of the data is provided by the developers themselves. THE TOOL IS ONLY AS GOOD AS YOUR INPUT so if you are a developer please give us your expertise profile.
This is A PROTOTYPE
The tool is currently incorporating a prototype search function for ecosystem model equations which is only based on PISCES (Aumont 2005) and ERSEM-PELAGOS (Vichi et al., 2005), which allows the direct comparison of equations across models for the same biological process. In addition an APPLICATION SEARCH will soon allow to search for models successfully applied to specific ecosystems of ecosystem processes (currently the prototype searches only ECOPATH models, see SEARCH tab for details).YOUR FEEDBACK as a user of the Tool is invaluable in improving the functionality.
